STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths Information

Why STEM?

National Overview: ‘The UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) suggests that the majority of jobs in the 21st century will require high levels of science and technology expertise, possibly 58% of newly created jobs.  More people from all backgrounds should be encouraged to take up STEM subjects to expand and improve skills in the UK.’ (STEM.org.uk)

Therefore STEM subjects will not only make students more employable in the future but also offer them more employment options in our ever changing world. Here at Walton-le-Dale we offer a variety of STEM related subjects in addition to the core subjects but also numerous opportunities to explore STEM careers and links to curriculum.
