Paracetamol and other non-prescribed medication: Our custom and practice has been to ring home to get permission for a student to be given paracetamol if they have a headache or other minor pain. Following national guidance we are advised that we cannot give medication to students, other than in very specific cases where students need to receive prescription medication during the school day. Therefore, from Monday 17th May (a week on Monday) we will be unable to provide paracetamol or other non-prescribed medication for students. You will find our medication policy on our website with our other policies at https://www.waltonledale.lancs.sch.uk/parents/policies. Apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause.
Year 10 exams: It is important, as we expect examinations to be "normal" for next year's Year 11, that we have our usual series of Year 10 exams at the end of this term. They will be taking place during the week before work experience (week beginning 28th June). Further details will follow in the next couple of weeks.
Sports Week: As we begin the return to "normal" we are delighted to say that, as we cannot have a combined Sports Day for the whole school, we will be having a Sports Week during the week beginning the 5th July. Each year group will have a Sports Day during that week. Year 11 will be invited to return if they wish for their day on the Monday and most of Year 10 will return from work experience to have their Sports Day on the Friday. Detailed plans to follow in the coming weeks - this is a very positive development!.
501 bus diversion: Families of Blackburn students using the 501 bus - please see email sent on Thursday regarding the 501 diversion - link is on our website here.
I am really pleased with how well most of our students are doing at the moment, given the difficult circumstances. As I have said before I am particularly impressed with the attitude of Year 11 at this time - their maturity and resilience are a credit to them.
