Good afternoon,

Looking out on the rain it strikes me how good the weather has been during lockdown - up to this week!

Study for next week:  As usual, this is attached to the email version of this update and on the website here.  Please be aware that all previous weeks are on the website here.

Year 10s:  As I have been saying, we are very much looking forward to seeing our Year 10s next week for a discussion about their learning looking at the barriers that they have been facing in each subject and making sure that they are getting assistance from their teachers in overcoming any issues.  We are then planning small group teaching in some subjects in the following weeks.  This is all designed, as the government guidance says, to support their remote learning.

Government laptop scheme:  Some Year 10s are eligible for laptops funded by the government - we have been making these available over the last few days since they were delivered to us.  Parents/carers of eligible students will have received an email from us about it.

Classcharts:  You should receive an email about Classcharts today - any issues, please email classcharts@waltonledale.lancs.sch.uk.  This will enable you to see the points that your son or daughter has been awarded for good work during lockdown.

Year 9 engagement report:  Year 9 families should receive this report today - please use it as the basis of a discussion with your son or daughter - the action is that the student must email their teachers with any issues.

Mentoring:  We know that as we move forward with more students returning to school each of our students will need help in different ways.  This requires an adult on our staff team to know that student well and to be the key individual contact between student, family and teachers.  Our ethos is that we know and value each young person as an individual so we are working on an ambitious mentoring scheme to support our students on their return to school, involving every member of our school community.  More details to follow next week.

Have a good weekend....
